The Lismore Chapter No 32 of Ikebana International received its Charter from Japan on 21st March 1960. The Chapter at present has 33 members, and meeting are held on the second Tuesday of every month, excluding December and January. Meetings are held at member’s homes, at restaurants and places of interest. The Chapter has a large library of books on ikebana, and Japanese cultures. Ikebana International is a cultural non-profit organisation founded in Tokyo by Mrs Ellen Gordon Allen. Its purpose is to stimulate, cultivate and perpetuate the study of Ikebana and allied cultures throughout the world. Through this association, Masters, Teachers and Students are drawn into closer understanding. By the establishment of Chapters throughout the world, contact is maintained with Ikebana as it is practiced in Japan, thereby giving stimulus and inspiration not otherwise available.
